Expanding RPL Pathways

CAWBL is excited to announce a second project with the University of King’s College, continuing our work to expand pathways for liberal arts graduates through recognition of prior learning (RPL).
Funded by the Province of Nova Scotia, the project — Evaluating Online RPL Assessment for Nova Scotia’s Liberal Arts Workforce — will enable graduates to gain recognition for work-based learning related to business and managerial skills.
In 2025, CAWBL partnered with King’s to establish the infrastructure required for liberal arts graduates to demonstrate their workforce contributions, aligned to components of the Chartered Management Program (CMP) from Chartered Managers of Canada.
This next phase builds directly on that work.
We are expanding the pilot into new territory by testing how to deliver Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) effectively in an online environment for rapid skills assessment and recognition.
From Contribution to Credential
This project advances a simple idea: we make work-based learning visible, validated, and valued
This initiative brings together:
• Open-access professional standards from Chartered Managers of Canada, indexed within the WBLNS™.
• PathLedger™, where individuals can record their contributions and gather evidence of their learning.
• A structured process of validation, translating learning gained through contribution into trusted, portable credentials.
Together, this creates a pathway from contribution to → collection → recognition → validation → credential.
This infrastructure will scale what works and enable adoption across sectors, institutions, and regions to strengthen work-based learning systems.
For instance, it demonstrates how public digital infrastructure can:
• Support Labour and workforce mobility
• Enable rapid skills assessment
• Advance upskilling through recognition, not duplication…
…and most importantly – validate learning that is happened through contribution
More to come!
We are expanding this work in new and exciting ways across sectors and contexts. Check back for project updates here as we get underway in early April 2026 or see updates on LinkedIn.
